Snowshoeing! :)

Once upon a Sunday afternoon,
the snowshoes were calling our names.

We bundled ourselves up to go for a nice tromp through the snow.

In the midst of cleaning off the car snow began to fly! It would not wait for us to go anywhere. We had to play in the snow immediately!

After the snows desire for flying was satiated, we determined not to let another distraction get in the way of our snowshoe trek.

We were excited to begin our adventure into snowy, worlds unknown, to go where no man had gone before!

The going was treacherous. Though the snow was deeper than we imagined, we relentlessly floundered on.

As we were about to give up hope our eyes caught sight of a wonderful sight; the forest! We had reached the end of the yard! Our perseverance had paid off! The yard had been conquered!

Elated and snow-covered from the hours of exploration, we turned our snowshoes back toward the lodge, satisfied that once again we had accomplished a trek that others were not brave enough to begin.

Now we are warm by the fire.

My Citchen Creashons ;)

Modern art, dreaming of becoming Roxanne's Famous Molasses Cookies.
Liz, I was on the phone with you when I did this one. ;)

Torturing strawberries.

But they looked to great in the end.

They were dipped in good old melted semi sweet chocolate chips, so they weren't shiny. But they tasted *wonderful*! Better than just almond bark, for sure!

Announcing: The latest unveiling in my little kitchen.
They say necessity is the mother of invention. It must be the mother of creativity too.
Berries & whipped topping. The perfect summer food to serve at Bible study.
ooh. Not enough bowls. Ah ha!
......
And here is the creation, my "sugar cone" bowls.

They tasted great! And were a big hit. Now, I just have to do the dishes.... :)

Christmas at Home - Part 6 - Christmas Day

Merry Christmas Morning!
Christmas tradition breakfast in our house is Stollen and eggnog,
usually with eggs & sausage.

The ingredients for eggnog:
Whipped topping, lots of egg, and two noggins. ; )

Yes. Liz is licking the beater... it was done beating anyway....

Naomi masterpieced the eggnog. Just watch you're going to wish you were there!

Ladle foamy eggnog into cups, sprinkle with a dash nutmeg. Yum!

Liz is the Stollen queen.

Adding a simple glaze.

Butter a warm slice and enjoy your Christmas breakfast.

In normal Christmas tradition, we open our stockings before breakfast.
This Christmas we were going to see our niece, sister, & bother-in-law for the day.
We took our stockings in the car.

Our stocking are patterned after the stocking Grandma made for mom.
We must have made these around 12 years ago. :)

Details on Naomi's stocking.
But also proof that at one time Naomi could be random!

The real meaning of Christmas.

Afterwards, was present time.

This was Dad's from us kids.
The fan circulates air, powered by the heat from the stove.
It's pretty fascinating. And it works great.

Some friends at church gave us girls scarves and gloves.
I wear my scarf every week! It's perfect! :)

Mom framed Esther's Chinese name.
Doesn't it look great?!

Then we loaded in the car to go to our sisters.
Stockings were the entertainment.... except that we are enough entertainment as is... hmm

Christina didn't have a tree. So we brought a Rosemary tree.
And helped decorate it. Naomi got 100 lights on that little thing!
It looked cute.

And so did Christina!

Then she got to dig in.
"This one first."

From Auntie Liz.

Then, the fashion show with new Christmas clothes!

One of the reasons we ended up going up to see them, was free ice skating at a local rink!
We were so excited!!
I was especially excited. Ice skating.. *with people*!!! And my sisters at that!!
Wow!

There's Liz coming around the bend.

And Naomi coming to shed a layer.

On Christina's first lap, she held very close to mom.

Pretty much Rachel & I held/pushed/dragged her around for that one.
Here we come:

But, on round two, I took Christina out. By her last lap, she was skating almost all by herself!

She did great.

After we got done skating, we went back to the house and packed up.
Everyone wanted to be in bed at a decent time. So we did.
What a great Christmas!
